Pet Rescue

Downtown Dog champions animal welfare causes whenever possible. In fact, a very large number of our doggie clients found their fur-ever homes through rescue groups and shelters. Here are some of the groups nearest and dearest to our hearts:

Society for Companion Animals

Nicknamed Fly By Night by the local newspapers, this unique rescue not only saves the hopeless facing euthanization, they fly them to homes in states and cities that enforce their spay/neuter laws and have room to love the pets we discard. All the credit goes the society’s founder and the greatest friend dogs can have, Tawana Couch. Downtown Dog is honored to be part of her on-going efforts.

Oklahoma Westie Rescue

Oklahoma Westie Rescue is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and placement of neglected, abandoned or injured Westies. They are a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization of volunteers who open their hearts and homes to care for these little angels.

Blue is a great pup and deserves a forever home.

We’re happy to announce that Toby has a new forever home with a loving family that’s as happy to have him as he is to be with them. We love happy endings.

Hi Friends. I’m Blue. I am a 58 pound boy less than a year old. I was rescued while roaming the busy streets of South Lamar in Dallas. Dodging traffic, skinny, dirty, and hungry, a nice man found me a foster home where I could gain weight, get healthy enough to get neutered and be treated for heartworms.

I play well with my buddies and can doggie wrestle for hours. As you can see by my picture, I am a great help at work.

I enjoy being around people, am very affectionate, and I must tell you; I can make the funniest noises, from yodels to gurgles to howls in assorted musical keys.
